'Trucktastic' Film
« on: February 07, 2005, 22:33:02 »
BBC1 @ 00:05 Tuesday

Convoy.
A great film, for those who like their rigs big :D
Still think that opening sequence is wonderfully shot.

"Arizona Noon, on the 7th of June
When they eyeballed over the Pass
Bulldog Mack with a can on the back
And a 'Jagwar' hauling Ass"

Jagwar XKE, funny, unreliable foriegn car eh? crappy Lucas electrics eh?

The Jagwar's only in the film so it can break down you know.

Anyone see Duel as well last week?

Had to explain a little of the parlance to julie, "stroking boar", sounds like something you report to animal welfare!

"He said Strokin' " (with a Beavis & Butthead voice)

Didn't bother as I've got it on tape already & considering buying the DVD 8)

Ought to have made a second film

I was telling Julie (during the end credits) I first saw Convoy when I was a teenager, by coincidence I was building a model of a Peterbuilt 7up truck and Freuhoff trailer (a pressie I think) and after I saw the film I stripped the truck and re-painted it black!

BTW, the most evil looking duck you could have, wasn't it.

It's so coincidental it's scary

I saw it when I was 14, it was the first AA(??) as they were at the time, film that I went to see (or was 'Smokey & The Bandit 1' out first?)

I actually bought the ERTL 'Rubber Duck' Mack kit, it even had a 'lifesized' plastic 'Duck' as part of the kit.

Yes forget your 'Evil Ducks', I think I asked on forum when they appeared if anyone knew where I could get the Mack 'Duck' (complete with bristles on his back)

And here's another singing star who drove a truck.

No not the fat guy who shuffled off this mortal coil 'on the can', but this one wrote a song for him

Alambama Wild-Man!

Go to 'The Tunes' & scroll down to 'T'
'The Legend', a track to certainly equal CW McCalls movie version of 'Convoy' (I prefer Jerry)

Some damn fine tunes there;
'Amos Moses'
'Guitar Man'
'East Bound & Down'
'Texas Bound'

sad I know, but I got both versions of the song (origional and the movie version) on cd. I`ll email to anyone who wants em, not sure why you would tho :)

"mercy six alive, looks like we got us a convoy"
Don`t blindly follow where others lead, go you own way, and leave a trail. which, being in a Land Rover, will be of oil.

I've got the 'Convoy' soundtrack LP & 'Smokey' (2) in the 'Snug'. Still wouldn't mind 'Smokey 1' soundtrack
Even though I've got all 3 films

Isn't it 'Mercy Saints Alive!'??

Still might order a 'Duck'
