Disco Matt:
Try getting some decent tyres and keeping it standard for a while, see how it goes. You'll be amazed where it will go without modifications plus it'll teach you how to get the best out of it.

yea took her out sunday round a coupleof local lanes and even with those tyres had no troubles well only 1 turned between some trees and it didnt grip and slid so i gently tapped the tree hehe

sardonicus:
Bought my 1st disco off eblag a few weeks ago, spent a tad more on it tho ,to avoid most of the welding issues......so i thought! Sills etc fine ,due to the side steps catching all the crud, which are held together by the rubber tread bits!
Boot floor looked ok from underneath just afew rusty bits where the under seal has peeled off.So i had alook under the carpets and sodden rubber bit and found afew rusty patches which i poked holes in with my big screwdriver (for poking holes in landrovers with).About a six inch long hole in the outside channel bit just over each shock and a few along the back .Filled them with bits of ally and filler for now ,4 months mot left, but I reckon i could get away with welding a few patches in.
Brilliant vehicle!wish I had bought one years ago! :D
Got stuk in some sodden kentish wealden clay ,diff lock and low range work fine!
Have got 3 good tyres ,need a matching nexen(!!??)one for the back or a matching pair of some thing else cheap.
power steering fluid seems to be leaking from base of resevoir but have tightened clips and hpefully that will do.
the disco feels much lighter to drive than a jeep g.c.(doesnt have so much body roll in every corner!)though it does feel more like a van with all the space in the back!cant get the thought of an austin maestro  van out of my head :)

mentalmoshio sophs V8i:
