Oops! Broken again ..

Right, that's that job sorted! Took a bit longer than the manual suggests but who cares?
Only had one small problem during the strip down. You have to remove the steering pump pulley to get at the bottom couple of water pump bolts ~ what idiot designed it like that? ~ and the workshop manual says to crack them off before removing the belt. That's all well and good if the belt is there in the first place but absolutely no help if it's missing (i.e. lost by the side of the road). Fitting the new belt doesn't help either, as without a water pump pulley (sitting in the garage waiting for a pump to fit on to) you can't tighten the belt enough to hold the pulley.
Solution? One VERY big pipe wrench and a couple of paper towels ~ plus a certain amount of swearing and knuckle scraping. The jobs dead easy after that
My thanks to the Land-Rover-Parts-Shop (.com) for their speedy delivery of the bits

IIRC I put my massive mole grips over an old belt. You're right though, it's a cack design.
Keep an eye on things, i found that the 2 long bolts hold the water pump to the housing to the block, the housing to block gasket then begins to weep as you have ditrubed it. Great
