In my job (an A&E unit), I hear quite a lot over the Police radio when the Officers bring in an 'In Custody' for treatment, or come to interview a RTI victim.
Some of the jobs that are heard have to be believed!
I reckon they certainly have a hard-time with some of the numptys they have to deal with

We joke about Full Moons bringing the Loonies out, and it defianately seems that way, but for the 'Thin Blue Line', everyday's a Full Moon!!

--- Quote from: Disco Mike on March 08, 2008, 22:37:56 ---go around to a mothers house and tell them that there 10y old son/daughter was killed crossing the road and that they are not able to see the body or say goodbye because the lorry parked on there face and now they are unrecognizable
could YOU pick pieces of a body up from a train line then go and inform the family of what happened i really don't think i could and especially not for the wages these PEOPLE are on

--- End quote ---
I've seen the results of RTI's of varying degrees (up to & including Scania parked on chest), suicide victims (hangings, mutilations),  'knock-downs (children & adults), drownings (& left in the water for a fortnight), fires (car & house), 'one unders' (low & high speed)

I, for one, could not be the person who has to walk up that garden path & knock on the door.
The Officers who do so deserve every penny, and more

If you haven't read it, try & get your hands on 'Wasting Police Time'
It's a funny, almost surreal, insight into 'the job'
I know several copies are known to float round the local Station.

Sharpshooter:
Hi Diggerdog. I see from your words, you must spend part of your day looking after me then. :)

Dun "A" ring any bells.  ??

Okay, a large majority of these don't come into the department. No point, if they're deceased.

I ought to have added that I do sometimes visit our Mortuary though, & see these unfortunates prior to, during, & after a 'Post Mortem'

suzota:
i fully support the police and armed forces and dr's and nurses.

its the courts that are a pain in the arse.

why they hell cant crooks be named, even if the scrotes are under age, they are crooks name and shame.
sentences should be made harder.
get the prisoners out of the jails and doing public service, like cleaning graffiti off walls, litter picking, decorating oap homes, something useful not just sitting in jail watching the telly.

life should mean life, not 5 years.

Bishops Finger:
As an aside never got the concept of the response driver going through numerous prosecutions for testing his patrol car at 140mph......waste of money and stopping someone knowing how to properly use the tools of his job

This country is FUBAR because of politicians IMHO
