RRC Body Panels.... Non existant now!
« on: March 05, 2008, 11:14:44 »
I have been trying to source some new panels for my classic in the last few months and to say I've been un sucsessful would be an understatement of the year.
As I understand from Paddocks and a few other leading spares companies, the company that used to make pattern panels
eg: Inner wings, Battery trays, Rear Xmembers, Rear wheel arch tubs, Boot Floors etc for RRC have gone into liquidisation  :'(

Thus causing a slight problem for the likes of us who run the Classic body if we ever need these parts. (like I do now)

What I'd like to know is, if I was to spend some time fabricating up these said panels, would fellow RRC owners buy these panels to keep their motor tip top or would I be wasting my time?

Obviously I've already fabricated inner wings for my own use due to not being able to pick up off the shelf which fitted perfectly and have nearly finished an uprated design of the Rear X Member which will be hard as nails set in concrete by the time I'm finished.

Any info and or other panels ideas received would be great. one off design panels?
Am trying just to cater for RRC at the mo to see how things pan out.

Just as an idea, a pair of inner wings will be £120 plus p+p NO VAT!..... (I hate VAT)

Cheapest I managed to find a new set for was £160 a pair plus VAT.
Total £188 + p+p

I have it on good authority that the company that supplied them has closed it's UK operations but that the supply of panels is likely to resume in the future :)

I read an article about this recently, I think it was in LRO, apparently Rimmers have said they'll do their best to obtain anything anyone needs after Land Rover took charge of the Classic Parts company and binned lots of slow moving items.

Yea I tried Avenue Panels, thats where I got the price of £188 + P+P
for inner wings...

I got them to price up:

2 Inner Wings
1 Rear Cross Member
2 Battery Trays
2 Rear Wheel Arch Tubs
Both bits of floor either side of rear arch tubs
2 Head Lamp Assembly Panels

Total Cost, £870 something plus VAT!

How about NO was the only thing that sprung to mind

Hence my plan to go into fabricating these items myself from scratch.

Will post some pictures up of inner wings and rear cross member once completed..

Actually met Ben Haynes today, what a nice fella.
Nice to meet someone level headed.
Thanks for the roof rack for me RRC, looks a treat...
