alarms
« on: March 01, 2008, 19:50:37 »
I want to upgrade the alarm on my 90 as someone decided to take a look in my bobtail RRC last night, nothing in there to be had so got away with that one.

I will need something that can cope with the S&C that Land Rovers get attracted to, can anyone recommend some durable units.

I thought about changing mine and went and had a chat to one of my local alarm fitters who reckoned I'd have to get a main stealer to remove the old one first.

Main stealer claimed they didn't know which wires were for the alarm so it'd be a process of trial and error to remove and I could pay them a nice fat wedge of cash while they tried to find the right wires.  :'( Needless to say it still has the factory fitted alarm.

I have a Thatcham Cat1 alarm in my 90 that was fitted by a local alarm specialist

They also do replacements for the OE alarms http://www.bridgwater-electronics.co.uk/p_52_Land+Rover.php

Might be a bit of a journey but they seem to have a lot of distributors for the OE replacement unit.

I'd leave the original in place and add a Cat 2 imobilisser, unless it's specifically the alarm that you want.
