Jimny diff guards.

simon slapstick:
The Offroad Armory have a weld-on diff guard on the way I think.

minimog:
Idid some for a few friends on sj,s did a few bolt on ones and weld on ones the jimny is slightly diferent the diff housing is slightly tapered so a bolt around one is hard to do but a weld on one can be done these were 10mm cast steel items i posted to see if any one wanted any (at cost to me £60 pair for weld on ones) but no one replied so never bothered

--- Quote from: glaggs on February 27, 2008, 14:20:15 ---Never heard of any one making them. A simple trick is to weld some extrea steel to the out side - means stripping first. To be honest all the people I know with Jimny's have never had a problem with damage. Unlike landrover Diffs which are extremely thin (being basically Rover car axels origionally) Suzuki diffs are quite substantial. Not saying you won't break one, but you are more likely to bend/break something else 1st.

Unlike landrover diffs! That is the biggest pile of rubbish i have ever heard on this forum!!!

My GV has a bloomin Aluminium diff! Im sure landy diffs cant offer the ridgidity of theat. I hear they make them from playdough!

Not sure of your point here - first you slagg off my statement as rubbish - and then go on to agree with it.I. Landrover owners will readily agree that the diffs are made of inadiquately thinn steel which is prone to rock damage and also weakens due to rusting from the out side. I know people who have warped the diff housing just trying to remove the filler plug.

As for Vitara diffs. They may be strong when it comes to fending of rocks - but regularly fail big style on lifted Vits.

Anyway my point was people make diff guards for Landrovers 'cos they need 'em - and they don't make 'em for Suzuki's due to lack of demand, mainly down to the fact that they tend not to be easily damaged.

CNorman:
What i meant is that the front GV case is Aluminium. Landy diffs would need to be made of playdough to be softer than that.

And as for your comments that is complete rubbish! Me and several friends off road Landrovers without any problems with the diffs.

The landrovers are used so much more that there is a higher demand for diff guards. Suzukis are not so common hence they do not have the range of parts.

I can pop into Alton from here to Keith Gotts and buy Landy stuff. There are dozens of sites that will come up if you search for a lift kit. Not so for suzukis, is that because they do not need to be lifted to off road whereas landys do....

Absolute rubbish
