lethal steering failure

bought a 300 disco last night ,drove it home some 50 miles ,tonight went to turn round at bottom of road and the steering box has major failure,the shaft that  the drop arm is attached to is hanging out ..losing all steering control ...could have been lethal last night when doing 70.... :shock: :shock:
does anyone know of this happening else where to anyone ???

 :shock: has the shaft snapped then??? as far as i know the shaft cant come out downwards due to the way its made it has to be removed from the top  :?

Happened to the chap who runs our local parts place - similar circumstances too!

thats a bit worrying isnt it. lets hope it dont become a common fault.can you post some pics when you get it off..........
