Just had a phone call on the house phone asking to speak the my father (it's his house) The number that called was 07717484118. I said he wasn't available at which point there was a pause then the chap on the other end send "Is there a good time to call when he would be back, it's his bank?" Now at this point I laughed and said, "Yes, March!" because he goes away for the winter. The guy said ok and hung up. It was only as I was telling O/H what had been said that we thought there was something phishy. Normally when my dad's bank or our bank calls they tell us it is "insert name of bank here" but this guy just said "It's his bank" that and the fact it was I presume a mobile phone number that called us makes me think this was some sort of scam. Opinions please........ should I do anything, inform anyone do you think? Cheers

Drift:
With hold your number and call it back , see who answears then if its dodgy report it

Bush Tucker Man:
Scam

Mine always announces itself, but then again, I know the staffs names (only about 5 in my branch)

Might be worth ringing his bank up & filling them in?

Hmmm, that sounds a bit dodgy to me and has made me think about a call I got the other day...

I was at work so wasn't really interested in talking to the guy, but I got a phone call from a Mobile number and the fella didn't use my name, just came straight out and said he wanted to talk about my Three mobile contract...

Once I had assured him that in fact the number he had called me on was a Three PAYG number and my Three contract had actually been cancelled by myself about 18 months - 2 years ago, he said that he would update his 'system' and wouldn't bother me again...

Like I said, it didnt register at the time that it might be a scam, but looking back.... :-k

Well have just phoned dad's bank but obviously they can't tell me anything which I understand. The lady did tell me though that they don't use mobile phone numbers to call and she was also very helpful giving me a number dad can call from abroad and they would have any details of genuine calls made to him. I will call him this evening with this information and take it from there I think, if necessary call the police in the morning.
