SJ Oil leak
« on: January 25, 2008, 13:12:33 »
Hi I know most SJ leak oil but I have just noticed mine is losing a lot of oil what looks to be coming from the crank shaft area behind the cam belt cover. if it is this how hard a job is it to change that seal or would it be easy to got to a vitara engine as I have been thinking about this for a while now. do you think its time to bin the old 1.3 and find something else.
Thanks,

Just done this on my Vit engine its a bit of a b*ll ache but not too difficult. If you have ever changed the timing belt its about as much work as that.

Why dont you do the vit conversion, and while the 1300 is out do the seal and keep it for a spare.

You don't need to take the crank shaft off then you can get to it all keepin the engine in just get the sproket off and the seal behind that.

Thanks,
