How to increase power?
ChrisV8:
You could of course take out the teeny LR engine and put in a GM 5.7 V8 diesel out of a Hummer etc. !!!! You get the nice noise and humungous torque, but they eat gearboxes unless you go auto with lots of fabrication.
But also other less taxing Jappy diesels will give more power, my Nissan sounds really nice when working hard and has a lot of torque, the Mazda 3.5 td is also very good towing.
You just take your choice !

Even better when you think how that stacks u against the V8s 165 ish BHP, becasue the TDi doesn't rev as hard that means more useable power.
That said on the motorway I'd rather be in the V8, I just prefer paying for the TDi :undecided:

No I don't add anything & yes it will block the filter after a couple of thousand miles as the veg oil cleans the tank & lines.
Disco Matt:
Regarding the straight through pipe, mine has one. It does make it sound good and I think there's a slight improvement - more a case of it being more flexible at low revs than a power increase. Certainly if you want 150bhp from a 300 TDI you'll need to fit a bigger intercooler, lose the cat (if it has one) and tweak the fuel pump too.
Blanking off the EGR valve isn't a bad idea either...
