urgent ! advice on gearbox removal on s plate diesel

hi all just wondering if anyone has any pointers on gearbox removal on an s plate diesel freelander its for a friend hes took all the bolts out of the gearbox but cant get it off dont know if there is anything he is missing or not doing the car is in bits so really could do with some advice asap thanks

Probably needs a good mechanics whack, they stick to the clutch because of the gasket.

Hello,

Dont gearboxes usually spline into the clutch, thefore they wont "drop out" and may need the driveshaft to be dropped etc.  Also they may need wiggling to clear various mounts and bodywork etc?
