Sailing and other options to France HELP
« on: January 14, 2008, 16:09:45 »
Hi a friend has asked me to put out a plea for information about taking an expedition equipped 130 across 'the water' to France - preferably southern France.. Not fussed about travelling 'high season' as theres only him and SWMBO so they can go pretty much anytime.
Has anyone got a link to a site that compares Ferry and tunnel prices at differing times???
Cheers

Meant to type this in here but put it in the wrong window.

as it just so happens someone on another forum posted this link yesterday. good timing or what!

Also look at teletext for great last minute deals. My Dad used to spend ages looking through for bargain fares.

Another option is to convert your Tesco clubcard vouchers into online points and if you have enough you can get a free ferry or discounted one. A mate has travelled to France twice now with a caravan and not paid for thier trip on the Ferry by using Tesco points.

I use www.directferries.co.uk
If you go Dover - Dunkerque with Norfolkline it's cheaper than Dover - Calais.
I've just booked the Disco on the Dunkerque crossing during the second week of May at a cost of £69-60 including driver and four passengers

I managed to get my disco and driver and 3 passengers to france for the day (dover-calais) on Dec 21st 2006 for £5 return. That was through the ferry company themselves under the last minute deals section.

You can book all major European ferries at   http://ferrysavers.com/
We used it a few years ago for Dover - Calais. just fill in your criteria in the box on the top right of the webpage & it will work it all out for you & come up with numerous prices.
