--- Quote from: BK on January 19, 2008, 16:48:47 ---   i totally agree, you dont have to have a carlos fandango 90 to have fun!!! and thats what its all about, havin loadsa fun.Dont get lockers unless you want to start smashing driveshafts dont spend loadsa £££ on a winch unless you are Ed Cobley, just a few bits and bats and a really good toolkit (after all its a landy).......oh,and an X-brake so you can use the hand brake when you are on a hill, and these people that say that "its not adjusted right" is a load of cods wallop,I have to re-adjust mine every time I come back from laning!!!! and im sure others do as well :D

all good
until you get fed up of breaking things
i broke 1 shaft
i wasnt going to break another
loose out on a day playing cos of a silly thing like that
end o day i do agree, you dont need to have all the kit to have fun
i had more fun when i had grizzlys and no lockeres....but in a way id rather not go there again, 3rd gear flat out to get up rutted hills, smashing into trees, generally abusing the truck to do a simple thing
now its 1st gear and potter up at just above tick over, no stress on any part of the truck, no nackerd bush's no dented panels, no broken lights
you have to see things from two points of view

I agree with the kinetic rope bit, they are lethal if you dont know how to use them Ive got one and I think ive used it once to pull a 110 out of a bog at langdale quest,it popped it out like a champagne cork from a bottle,I wouldnt like to have been in the way if it came off!!!!.As far as mods go it depends on how deep your pocket is really and what u do with the motor, but the biggest thing is try and make it as safe and reliable (ish) as poss,so really its up to you :D

I managed to get a good video of a kinteic rope recovery not going to plan ......

the damage done was with the rope only, and no shackle.
I wouldnt have one.

ok ok points taken [Edited]!! lol I just got fed up of getting stuck when cross axled when a little more articulataion would have seen me through, besides which the suspension when I bought it was pretty much knackered anyway, needed new rar shockers which were rotten and seized, the springs on the back were well very tired, and weight in the back and it was on its knees, the front springs weren't much better, so it needed replacing. and for a few quid extra, I could get a better set up than standard and with a bit of luck overcome some of the obstacles etc that got me stuck. I also like to see them sit higher, sound better, and grip harder. The tyres were almost failable on its MOT (but he passed it so long as I got them changed sharpish) and rather than pay silly BFG Mud money to shred em to bits in off roading play days, I got what I consider to be the best tread pattern available at a fraction of the Simex price!! So I wouldn't say I have exactly gone over board, haven't fitted the radius arms, I have simply "upgraded" my pretty standard 90. The sumo bars are a must in my eyes as even with a steering guard fitted, I have managed to total 6 standard ones. So thats my argument. :P

a diff locker would be more effective for cross axle situations
