Like most on this thread I hate text speak, even on the mobile. My kids use it all the time and the youngest is 27  :-o

They get all uptight when I reply in English especially if it runs into several messages and they have to keep scrolling down to screen to get to the end  :dance:

Bring back standard English with proper BBC pronunciation  :clap:

Acronyms are OK when they are well known. The random sequence of letters and numbers in "text speak" can look as if someone has put in their password by mistake.
Bad grammar can be even worse. So too can using the wrong word when it sounds like the right word, e.g. talking about the breaks on their vehicle (what have they broken?) when meaning the brakes.
