Got the shakes!
JPJ:
My Disco has a 2" lift and had the anti roll bars removed plus recent new front radius arm bushes.
The other day because were going to use it for a long journey I removed the mud pluggers and put back the standard road tyres.
!0 miles down the road we hits a slight bump in the road at about 55mph and the whole of the front starts to shake and only stops when I slow down. Has done it a couple of times since.
I have checked for broken spings, shocks, track road ends etc. Steering damper is fixed at both ends.
Is this just because the anti roll is removed?
electricbluebadger:
id say check the panhard rod bushes, easy enough to check quickly
Cheers Steve
Bunnie:
i may be wrong here but were the other tyres tracked and balance? if so then if the standards are different and they werent tracked and balance this can also cause a problem.
extreme90:
swivle housings ;)
Budgie:
This can be caused by a number of things, some you have already checked.
The steering damper needs to be checked to make sure it has a smooth movement throughout its length. Any weak or stiff spots can cause a problem.
Also check tyre pressures, wheel ballance, play in the wheel bearings &/or swivel pin bearing preload and loose steering box drop arm. ;)
