Has any body got any recommendations for 4x4 insurance companies?
I have been having a job finding a half decent price.

When you hear of insurance quotes consider only like for like when you hear others say how amazingly cheap they managed to get insured.

Classic policy with full legal protection 5,000 miles per year agreed value Ã‚Â£1000 only me as driver, Ã‚Â£100 excess. No accidents my fault & no convictions. I have a registered disability & DVLA notified & licence unrestricted. Vehicle is unmodified with no winch or bullbar.
DE postcode and parking normally offroad in a private driveway not garaged.

:D Must be member of a motor club to get a discount.

It gets complicated don't it? Comparing like for like is unlikely! :roll:

Adrian Flux Ã‚Â£120 (L & G) - does not mention greenlaning specifically :(
Peter Best Ã‚Â£119.06 (Nor. Union) - Includes greenlaning :D

I'm with Lancasters. Have been for two years now and they are really good. They have a special area on their website for Land Rovers and you can do it all online. They were the best I could find price wise. :lol:

Interesting that they made a distinction for greenlaning. Do you have any info as to why Pete Best make mention of it ? It's just another road as far as I know.

Just had my renewal for the TD5.

Ã‚Â£350 from Adrian Flux, with all of the modifications declared. Always had good service from them as well.

The Norwich Union policy mentions greenlaning specifically, now I have not received my policy documents yet. Can only surmise that crashes & accidents may have complications different from regular "tarmacilly :roll: " accessible roads which may mean insurance settlements could be more complicated. hence more expensive.

Will report back with more info when pack arrives from Peter Best.

Adrian Flux have failed to refund me on a policy they cancelled. They sent me a note saying they owed me the money, but I am still chasing it! (13 months so far) They also never sent me any documentation for 6 weeks, then cancelled my policy within 7 days of finally recieving the paperwork from them for no proof of NCB!

They'll never get my custom back! Looking at legal action against them!

My 90 is with Firebond, zero no claims as it's a 2nd car, Ã‚Â£120 fully comp for SD&P and travel to/from work and 6,000 mile per annum, although apparently it's no extra for unlimited.

AFAIK - Greenlanes are 'roads' and require a vehicle driven on them to be MoT'd and have insurance, driver to have full licence etc same as any other road. - If greenlanes are not specifically excluded... They must (commonsense would tell you

The killer is the number of seats, as soon at they find it's over 8 they donÃ¢â‚¬â„¢t want to know. (It's for a 5 door 110)
Out of interest dose anyone knows if a bench seat is classed as one seat or do they go by the number of people you can safely seat on it.

Yes green lanes are roads we know all that.
But insurance company risk is higher if you crash in an inaccessible location where recovery of persons, body bits & motor are more fraught than near or in the viciniity of asphalt, i.e. in a ravine miles from anywhere on a Brecon Beacon or a Derbyshire peatbog or a Cumbrian Fell.
Visions of Mountain rescue, Air Sea rescue, Army, Helicopters, Chinooks.
Someone picks up the tab, maybe it might be your Ins policy?
Get the picture?

I am still awaiting so read the small print on my policy when I receive it.

bench seat in 88/90 =2
bench seat in 109/110 station wagon = 3

Sureterm came up with best quotes for both our 110csw's

the 300TDi was about 215
the 2.5 petrol with mods was about 320

Funny though, the AA on their website quoted 280 for the 300tdi but when SWMBO phoned to take policy out they quoted over 500 as the number of seats, even though the website let you specify the 110 station wagon option on its list.

I am with Peter Best and havent noticed anything about greenlanes. I had best look into it. It does cover me for treasure hunts though and surely they would involve a green lane or 2?

Peter Best was over Ã‚Â£600 yes Ã‚Â£600 cheaper than anywhere else.

22 year old no claims (2nd car) for a petrol s3. Peter Best quoted me Ã‚Â£320 fully comp

I have my ex military S3 insured with RoadSure as a classic vehicle. Cost was just under Ã‚Â£100 and it gives me;
Fully comp.
Insured for 10 people
Public liability which is very useful for shows and events
Greenlaning

There are some drawbacks;
Limited to 6000 miles
I am the only driver. Whatever insurance anyone else has (e.g. driving other vehicles) the insurance on my vehicle is invalidated if anyone else drives it. I'm not bothered by that but it was in the small print and not mentioned when I took the insurance.

If you get a quote for a 10 seater make sure you mention that it has to cover 10 seats and that they write that in the policy. I had to send my policy document back because the first copy only covered 5 seats, even though I'd told them it was a 10 seater.
