I've lost my belt!
gords:
I seem to have lost the belt wot drives the air-con - bl**dy lucky it's not the summer
The lower left most wheel (viewed from the front) seems to have lost it's bearing/middle bit as it just kind of flops to the side :( Of course, I'll have to blame that on Bramcote as well
Obviously I need a new belt and wheel thingy, but what about fitting it? How much has to come off so that I can get the new belt on?
Anyone know the part numbers for the wheel and belt?
Wish I had one of those parts picture things that LR spares depts have :(

Don't we all! :D
My alternator belt needs replacing. I was going to do it Sunday 'cos my rear axle case STILL hasn't arrived (but that's another story).
According to Mr Haynes, it wasn't too difficult a job. Hmm. You need to remove the fan and viscous coupling, which requires a special tool (a bent 32mm spanner!). Mr Haynes nicely informs me that the thread on this is left handed on diesel models. Once the fan is out, you can then remove the shroud, making access much easier.
Of course, if you have a v8 or TD5 this will all be b*ll*cks.

And now I've seen your sig, I know you have a 300tdi.
Jubby:
Gordon, don't know the part numbers, but the Jobs easy.
You only need to remove the Aux drive belt (two minute Job)
Remove the Cowl on top of the Aircon unit so you can get the belt on (two minute Job)

Wanderer:
Did mine a couple of weeks ago.
You don't need to remove the viscous fan Pete.
Feed the old belt out between the blades while rotating the viscous fan.
Refitting is a reversal of the removal procedure. Watch for belt direction on a 300 though.
