Headlights?
thermidorthelobster:
Halfords upgraded ones. About 25 quid a pair but much, much brighter and an even beam pattern. Far cheaper than HID.
andygod:
Just had a look again, the first time I looked I missed the £35.00 postage and the fact that they’re from China. I think I'll look else ware.
Disco Matt:
I've been running a pair of those ice blue ones on mine for a while now - definitely gives a better light output for a given wattage. I can't really explain it scientifically but they somehow seem crisper and allow you to see more.
mentalmoshio sophs V8i:
think u can get 200 series headlights second hand for 12 quid instead of 40 quid new. as for hid conversion 100 quid from motorworld so i guess ebay comes up good.
Evilgoat:
*sigh*
HIDs have special legal requirements. also bear in mind at close to £80 a pop you are NOT gonna get high quality units for £100. Hell I'd doubt they would even fall into the low quality catagory. Last few months I've had hell with cheap imported chineese kit and I have to say, avoid like the pl;ague. Yes its cheap, but so far, without rule its crap.
What you'll likeley get is high power, low quality Halogen bulbs with a blue tint that will last a few weeks.
HID bulbs use a good few KV to run, NOT 12V, that means they have high voltage ballasts to go with them. Thye also must automatically adjust height etc to be legal. This means they can never ever be a drop in replacement even ignoring the self leveling aspect.
Then you are looking at £80 a pop for HID bulbs, somewhat cheaper if they are bundled, so we'll call it £80 for both, then the ballasts, fair price would be about £45/50 a pop for cheap knock offs. So the price does not work already.
Also, pretty much everyone you blind will think you are a complete goit, right up till you blind a traffic cop with them.
Mentalmoshiov12crystalmethwhatever does actually have a valid point in this case, get new light units that arent full of mud and crap and you'll be fine. Replacing the LR wiring will help too as will cleaning the contacts on connectors and re-earthing the lamp connector somewhere closer than the eaxpansion tank.
