that is an easier option but if bent or fell off it all goto come apart but well worth a look

im just hesitant in taking it all apart as i have air con in the rear console. will have a good nosey in the light, cheers guys  :)

it can also mean your brake pads are worn if they have sensors on

You don't need to take the whole console out at all.
Free off the gaiter.
Go steady with it as the plastic part can snap.
Don't pull it up the handbrake lever too far.

Grip the switch panel and slide it towards the drivers door a few mm and it will pull forward. Ease it out of the way and you can get access to the switch.
