Body Lift
« on: December 26, 2007, 19:50:00 »
Hi i have recently bought a SJ, just  standard and untouched.

I am looking to start from scratch and build an off road beast.
I want to gain the most ground clearcne i can with out making a mess of it. I hane been looking around a few sites on here that people recomend and found some good ideas.

I want to go down the lines of SOA conversion with longer shocks and shackles also wanna do a body lift but not sure on what the extra things would need to be done with that and the rest, e.g. brake lines steering and gear selectors.

Could do with some friendly advise and even some pics if possible?

Thanks for your time

Richard

rear rascal springs on the rear and put the remains of th rear springs stick in the front that will do 1 inch(ish)

the steering linkage can have a bit welded in the middle to make it suit th car

bigger shackles . . . recomended is 5 inch but my dad had about 12(ish) inch on

and a spring over axle

its up to you what you do shock wise

and go for some extended bfg brake hoses

i think thats about it n you can get some 35's on one:)

at this height you can hear the prop starting to knock

that is how far my dad got and it was all home made n cost £90ish

it will be best to alter the gearing and possibly a toyota prop

i know with a 1.3 you can stick a 1.6 vit engin in it and will really shift with the 1.3 box on it

there is always bits on ebay like foldable shackles

try calmini.com
would a midget fall over doing the limbo???
