clunking gears
« on: December 25, 2007, 00:13:13 »
Hi all, Just had wifeys 90  back from the garage, it had the disco 2 gears fitted to upgrade the gearing, Must admit it makes a huge amount of difference, But on changing gear and on/off throttle it clunks, kinda like backlash type of noise??
Any how as  i know nowt at all about gearboxes  am  i right to say it should not do it now ? as it was sweet as a nutty thing when it went in,

Not spoken to the garage yet till after crimbo,

I will not name the garage till they have had the chance to check it out, But i will say it was NOT ashcrofts,
TD5 with a few Tweaks ;o)
a bit more fuel friendly than the V8

i bet you are hearing a slight back lash from the rear diff or possibly a bit of play now being felt from your prop on the rear as the hardy spicer joint might be on the way out
fail to prepare.. prepare to fail!

If it dont fit...force it. If ya cant force it...get a bigger hammer. If it breaks...it probably needed replacing anyway.
