Discovery Overheating any suggestions
stevepage3:
Hi
My disco overheated when I was at nash, after letting it cool down we set of for home, about 3 miles in the temperature crept up and the red light started to flash, as I was on a main road I carried on for about a mile trying to find a safe place to stop. As if by magic the temperature then started to drop to about 3/4 on the gauge and the light stopped flashing. we drove all the way home with no further problems.
Any ideas what might be the cause, someone suggested an air lock but how would I go about getting rid of one.

pux:
i would suggest checking your radiator is not full of mud as this will block the air flow and cause your truck to over heat, then if it is give it a good old wash 8) :D
J.D.:
Drain the system, refil it and check for any airlocks. Also, open the expansion tank when the engine is cooled and check the coolant level.
