Why is it time  :?:

Are you having the head checked at the same time...., could save loads of time/expense.

Head gaskets don't usually just go on there own...., something contributes to it going

treeman:
iv already gone an got a crack detection kit an my mate skims, ports an gas flows heads at work so he can check it with a straight edge  isnt the 3 holed 1 the safe bet being the thicker 1? i dont really wanna lose any performance because its sluggish now   looks like the dti testers coming out      thanks for the advice

You can see how many holes/notches the current gasket has if you look at the bit that sticks out above the lift pump (AFAICR).  If in doubt fit the the 3-hole as the safe bet.

And  head gaskets do fail just through age.  Did mine without skimming etc and no further probs (at least - not with the gasket!), but then I didn't let it overheat.
