Oil Light
Steven:
Hi all,
I have to admit the oil was overdue by two mouths, so we got it changed two weeks ago. The problem is the oil light keeps coming on, sometimes for a miniut or two and other times for a couple of seconds. Everytime it comes on we check it to make sure but now its becoming a joke as its fine, just below the top mark. What could be wrong then?
Oh, this did happen before we had oil change BTW....
Disco-Ron:
Simple really, two choices, no oil pressure, or duff switch.....
Hightower:
Don't want to sound condescending, but did you use the right grade of oil?

Yes mate, a good freind did it for us who is also a LR enthusiast.
I'm sure he would of put right stuff in, becides it started coming on before we changed oil...
doris:
In my experience, oil pressure switches usually fail such that they don't come on at all, rather than coming on when they shouldn't.
If oil pressure really is low, I would expect the light to come on when the engine is warm/hot at idle/low revs.
My money would be on the wrong grade of oil. A garage put 10w40 semi synthetic in mine and the oil light came on after a run on the motorway whilst at idle.
Just a thought.... did your man use a flushing chemical like Forte? I have heard they can cause low pressure in a worn engine.
