Disco Matt:

--- Quote from: "Bigbluemaverick" ---Just out of curiosity why would you pay to tag along? You don't get charged to follow someone on a motorway or b road so why would any one be dozy enough to do so on a green lane? If you know what i mean?

I guess if you're new to it all, haven't yet made contact with your local greenlaning fraternity, and want some security (in terms of having someone else navigate and recover you if needed) you might be tempted to pay for this. Certainly before joining Powys 4x4 Response and then Mud Club I didn't realise that there are active greenlaners in this area who seem quite happy to have extra people joining their trips!

ChrisV8:

--- Quote from: "Guardian." ---I KNOW NOTHING ABOUT ALL THE ABOVE, BUT ONE THING REALLY SEEMS A BIT WEIRD.
WHAT DIFERENCE DOES IT MAKE WHAT WAY YOU DRIVE IT, LEFT TO RIGHT, OR RIGHT TO LEFT?
--- End quote ---

Legally nothing, but LDNP have an agreement with 4x4 and bike users to keep to a list of agreed routings under the Hierarchy of Trails agreement to try and cut down misuse, wear and for Safety. Most of the routes in the Lakes are narrow so passing on some would be very difficult or only by reversing a long way. Works very well but some just don't want to have any rules, this may well lead them (LDNP)to close them totally under NERC powers.

That is what we are trying to preserve.

Defender:
There are only two lanes in the LDNPA with voluntary one way restraints on them: U5050, 'The Fox' in Grizedale HERE, which should be driven West to East & U5001, Tilberthwaite to Little Langdale HERE, which should be driven South to North.
THIS LANE is no 4x4's as it is too narrow & THIS LANE has a permanent TRO on it.
The first two lanes have a one way restraint for 4x4's as they are very narrow in places & passing vehicles coming the other way can be tricky without having to reverse to a suitable spot or without leaving the track.
Whilst the restraints are voluntary, any non-compliance only plays into the hands of those that would rather not see us there at all.
I can almost hear them saying "well you can't even adhere to your own guidelines, so we want a complete ban"
The lanes in the LDNPA have dataloggers on them & these log vehicle direction, group sizes, time of day & whether motorcycle or 4x4. (incidentally, dataloggers are now being used in the Yorkshire Dales also)
This info is available not only to the HoTR group, but also to the anti groups.
