i`m guessing you`ve changed the belt..?
maybe a blob in the belt throwing a vibration into the pump..?

i dont think i`ve seen one that doesnt leek in all honesty

Range Rover Blues:
Some of the symptoms you're describing, the groaning from the pump and the seals blowing from the steering box make me think that the whole system is running at too high a pressure.  The short life of many of the components backs that up.

A silly thought occured, but I'll share anyway.  One thing you havn't changed is the reservoir.  It has a filter/screen in it.  Could this be blocked? have you changed it at all.  It might be worth checking that the oil return from the PAS box has no restriction in it at all, it should run very freely.  Mine does generate a slight surface froth in the reservoir BTW.
