SLOPPY GEAR STICK

Gotta say i agree wit you there Iain, sounds like the bit hanging is the arm down to the transfer that engages diff lock. Thats the only bit I can think of that hangs down, but then I'm no expert :?

Exactly the same problem I had. It will be the detent springs in the top of the box.
You'll need 2 new detent springs (change them both whilst you're in there), a decent scredriver or pry bar to get them in with, socket set, electric drill to remove the cover, and some pop rivets to refit it, as well as a screwdriver/pliers to get the centre console and handbrake lever out.
Don't make the schoolboy error I did...I jumped in to drive it and someone had nicked my seatbelt buckle! I'd managed to put the centre console back over the top of the damned thing and it was up under the cubby box...it had to all come out again!!! :(

So no wine before hand then?
Thanks for the info, I'll go get the springs and get it done asap. Should be ok to drive over the next few days shouldn't it? I don't have to drive it, my 110's running like a dream. lol. I'll make sure the seat belt buckles out of the way too, if I do make the same mistake I'll give her a ratchet strap.

I done the same(ish) I had to free up the low range selector to engage diff lock, put it all back together and left the pipes for the rear seat vents off! I wondered why it was a pig to put back together!!!

Haha, You live and learn as they say! Wonder if the springs have been going for a while, noticed a rattle on gear stick and a difficulty selecting gear a few times before it finally went? Going to do the springs and might even treat the gear box and axles to an oil change!!
