And just got off the phone from Sureterm Direct, they can do me similar cover, with a lower excess and a few other bonuses thrown in, for £742. Daft isn't it!

22, 0 NCB and 1 at fault claim which was about a year ago. That Adrian Flux quote is by far the highest I've ever had for the Disco, infact for any car. I've not had any joy with them when I've tried to use them in the past either. Tried to insure a 2.0 Sierra GLS with 'em about 2 years back, they asked if I'd had any previous quotes, said "Yup, about £900 fully comp". The response was along the lines of "Well I suspect that's with a small, unknown company who'll probably never pay out, as we can't get anywhere near that quote. What was the company that gave you that quote?", "Direct Line", "Oh...."
Range Rover Blues:
Get the cheapest, they're all rubbish when you come to claim.

True enough! Norwich Union seemed great when I wrote my Focus off last year. Though looking back, THEY didn't seem great at all, the motor engineer assigned to my claim was great. He was helpful, offered me over the market value for the car, and made sure I knew to keep hold of the tax disc myself to get the rebate.
NU must have loved me for crashing at the end of November, as it allowed them to play the "well it IS nearly Christmas, sir, the post can be most unreliable around this time. Why don't you wait another couple of days, and if there's still no sign of the cheque, we'll cancel it and issue another one?". Managed to get them to cancel it and transfer it direct to my account, and then questioned about why I wasn't given that choice in the first place, was told "Well we thought it would be more convenient for you if we sent you a cheque.". Yup, it's easier for me to faff about banking a cheque than it is to sit on my backside doing nothing! And to top it all, non-UK call centres. For day to day dealings, not so bad, but when things start going wrong and you need to kick up a stink, they don't understand what you're saying, and they end up confusing you even more. I promised myself then that I wouldn't touch Norwich Union again, at least not direct.
And here's how my last car ended up :(
Coming home from town one wet, miserable day. Went into a right hand bend, within the speed limit (though I would now probably admit too quick for the conditions, well obviously otherwise it wouldn't have happened), got severe oversteer, went right across the road, into the embankment head on, spun round, back onto the right side of the road, head on into the hedge/fence.
Luckily no serious injuries, only my car involved, and it paid for the Disco. Shook me up quite a bit though, and even more so in the couple of days after when I couldn't help but think about how different the outcome could have been had a car, or, god forbid, an HGV been coming the other way. The father "in law" insisted when I got back to the house that I drove his Disco for the next few days so I didn't stop driving.
So that's why Adrian Flux wanted so much! ;) Have to admit that when I had committed to buying the Disco, but before that accident, Sureterm had quoted me about £550 fully comp, as I also had 2 years NCB then.
