attempted mugging....

has anyone been mugged?
now im living in southampton and i love the place, even though it is a hole (sorry to offend anyone but it is a port city) still, i love it.
i was walking back to my halls from uni by myself crossing the road when 4 boys (15/16/17 maybe?) were walking towards me, i take my hands out of my pocket... just to be sure... anyway as they come closer on guy says "give us yer munny and yer fone" upon whitch i say " money? i am a student so dont have anY money so **** off (this is true atm i am £35 in debt) and about the fone... you can **** off if you think yer getting my fone. and i just carried on walking....
they walked off in the other direction  8)

some people say i should just give them what they want... but tbh, a) i dont have money, and b)i was a bit up for a fight at the time... after all i had just had a crappy lecture.

anyone else been mugged/attemted? what should i do in future?

ps. i hear about many stabbings near the clubs and muggings and i ALWAYS am hearing sirens i know its a dodgy place  :cry:

I normally have something to hand to make life for anyone wanting to try it substantially more effort when its worth, but being an electronics bod means I normally have tools about my person, even if its because last time I wore that particular coat I was up a ladder.

mmm, but short of carrying my massive maglite torch every day and i cant just go round with a knife in my pocket especially if i am walking round university... so i think knife is a no no. just tonk up a bit  :lol:

I weouldnt advise actually carrying anything on perpose. You have to remeber that theres a high chance anything you use will end up turned on you. If it looks like its gonna get bad just give them what they are after.

i have asked somebody on the street for some change before so i could pay the parking meter, the change being for the note i had which the machine wouldnt take . bloke said i aint got anything get a job !!  :shock:  [ed: naughty]
