It wouldnt surprise me if it was real .You could get a cover for all the series motors to help them warm up.

I have one in my garage, the guy i got the truck from they were used for deep wading....... mine has velcro bits on it to hold it on.... never used it as i've butchered my standard grill around the winch......
gone from 200tdi.... to 300tdi... still with loads done to it, in fact, even more than the last truck...LOL!!!

not long after i had my rad re-cored we went on a jolly round the highlands at xmas time, the engine temp dropped and the heaters barely worked, i had to pull over and tie wrap a rubber floor matt over the grill, things warmed up nicley, but never over heated 8)  :lol:

theres a big enough gap infront of the rad between the grill that the viscous will draw air from  :wink:

I think Dan is right, a lot of modern cars have blank grilles to prevent over-cooling, oh and the build up of dead flies :?
