And they want MORE money?!??
wingman:
--- Quote from: "SteveGoodz" ---Instead of complaining that they don't deserve more money because the odd postie doesn't perform the way you expect consider that if they were paid more they'd be able to recruit more conscientious personnel and the service would improve. And one final shot; why is it that the regulator only regulates Royal Mail and not all of the mail companies?
Just a thought :D

I'd cheerfully pay a lot more for a better service. Maybe not £3 for a letter, but I have no objection to paying 50 or 60p.
Bouncy:
in 2000 there was an amenedment to the legsislation and the new post office act which made provision for other providers to be able to carry post and packages over the value of 50p.
The Post office was to hold the momopoly on all postage under 50p.
Atthe same time our friends in the civil service also decided ot spend £xm on renaming and rebranding the post office to Consignia... lets bust a perfectly good branding screw up .
Bizarrely enough the deregulatio of the post office did not cause a wave of companies keen to take on the task and run a nationwide postla service at a loss leader.
The reason I know this is because I had an interview with the policy dept al those years ago.
As for personal experience... i have had posties who have done origami with my post . however my postie here in Norfolk is fabulous. If he has a parcel for me he will wait till he sees my car on the drive or even drive back to drop it off. Like any job in the world there are those who are excellent and those who are useless.
I can completely sympathise with those who have posties who can't read or are useless. i intend to be extra nice to mine in order to ensure his exceptional service.
GREENI:
I had some post at work today, 100 charity ride entry forms, they were posted in September

Our local postie is superb, always courteous, will stop and chat if you want, nevr ever a mail problem and even packages that need signing for get left in the front shed as thats what I asked him to do....
Sorry you all have problems but it seems we are the exception
However I think thats a reflection on our postie rather than the money grabbing monopoly that employs him... some people do take pride in their job.. a rare few at that.
Cheers Steve
