V8 to diesel
disco-v8:
ok after a realy crappy day of off roading today in my V8 i think i might want to change it to a diesel, not 100% sure yet, but im getting a few electric problems with mine at the mo, so might be easyer to swap the engine!!!!
basicaly what is needed to swap it from a V8 to a diesel 200 or 300TDI????
and please please dont say the realy obverse stuff!!!!!!
mines a 3.9 auto ( zf4 hp auto) so will the diesel engine but up ok????
and what about all the electics in mine will alot of the none engine stuff still work or wont it????

adam, you'll be better off posting this up on www.lr4x4.co.uk
what engine are you intending on if you do go down this last resort route ?
200 or 300 ?
engine mounts will require changine, different rads ect ect
wireing wise, you only need one wire to start the old 200's
that wire on petrols goes to the coil to power it up
but i dont no about yours as its efi, maybe it still has a coil
dont do v8's only dervs as you can see
afink the tdis used the ZF 4HP22 auto box's.....but thats only of top of my head :?
now i doubt the tdi's will but straight upto the housing as the stud pattern is bound to be different  , but if you can find a tdi auto box and use that housing, then jobs a gud un i guess :?
dont give up just yet on the old girl though, ino how much you love the sound
