Are all 4x4 drivers the same?
sleeplessparadise:
Having seen something similar myself I took the details of the person who thought to drive away and left my details along with the details of the person who caused the damage. It was rainging at the time so I carefully put the piece of paper in a plastic bag and tied it to the drivers door handle. I got a phone call later that day thanking me for taking the time to do this and although she had decided the damage was minimal and not worth bothering about she was very happy I had bothered to leave my details for her.

so far my count is.
1 motorbike run over out side the house.
old woman reversed over it in a ford car and then did a runner. passer by got her reg: cantacted the police and was told it was a civil matter and that i should go and see her to get insurance details etc....took me 3 months to get anywhere as it seemed she had done this lots of times,
2@ a lorry took out the side of my 200tdi disco while parked in my street. he left the sceane without stopping even after being told he had hit it....someone left the details of the truck for me.....contacted the company to be told " naa it wasnt one of our lorries...they are not that far south ". urm here is your redg number and he was over the weight limit for this road. so we can go to the police if you so wish"....
turns out they did ave a lorry in the area and they paid all costs. :? but they did try and get away with it
3. a large van bounced off my disco in my road. they left the scene fast. neighbour got his reg number. contacted the police who said they would send someone round to inspect the damage. 4 hours later and no police. re phoned them and was told that there will be some one along soon. i then asked if it might have possible that they might want to breath test this bloke as he could of been drinking as there was nothng parked oposite my land rover and there was a large amount of room to get any van through. well tey got it all sorted in 20 mins ....turns out he had a pint at lunch time and was just under the limit.......so i wonder if he could of need over the limit at the time?????
made a full claim on his insurance .
why do people think they can damage someone elses stuff and then just walk or drive off.....makes me so angry

Mandatory retests every 5 years. 1 year to pass or your license is revoked. Job done.

For everyone??,or just at a certain age, or after an 'at fault' incident???
Just to add a point.
The Mondeo suffered only a dented wheel-arch & scuffed bumper (plus paint)
But, as the thread's discussing - It's the principle of it all (departing without notifying)
Silvery Thing:
A friend and myself witnessed a similar type of event in a car park of a local shopping centre. A numpty brained woman tried to get a Disco into a space that was about 4" wider than the car. She made contact with the concrete column and her nearside front wing and both doors of a small car on the other side. She did this not once, not twice but three times before she realised that she was not going to get into the space
Both my friend and myself took the details and left our contact telephone number under the wiper of the damaged car. We got a phone call from the owner but sadly never found out what happened afterwards :(

Me and swmbo saw an old shed of an escort van reverse into a brand new bmw 5 series a few weeks ago. Having found the owner of the bmw, given him our details and the reg of the escort I ended up getting dragged into the police station to give a statement. Fingers crossed they nailed the swine.
