Sluggish starting
Ralph Hardwick:
Hi all
I'm running on dieseland just recently the car is taking forever to start.
It will turn over okay but just won't fire. I have to churn it for several minutes before it goes. Once running its fine with no problems.
Interesting thing is: my drive slopes a bit and if I park 'nose down' it only needs a few turns (still too many), if I park 'nose up' it takes forever.
I have bled the fuel filter and no air came out.
Any other ideas welcome.
Cheers
Big Rich:
I'd start by looking under the boot floor threw the inspection hole and see if any of the pipes are corroded.
It could be a pin [ed - prod with a sharp implement] hole!

Disco-Ron:
I'd say you have an air leak somewhere, letting the diesel seep back to the tank, hence you're having to effectively pump it back to the engine....
Range Rover Blues:
If it wasn't for the slope thing I'd say glowplugs but yes it sounds like a fuel problem.
lurch_917:
just a question when you bleed the systeam did you over tighten the bleed screw and partly strip the threads as this happend to me and it was air getting back in at the bleed screw a re tap and larger bolt done the job
