Discovery V8 mpg's - search did n't help

Sorry, you've probably all already written this in lots of other threads but a search gave 54 pages !!!!

I'm seriously considering buying a Disco. I don't know what size V8 engine I might get but before I buy a 300 TDi with my head my heart wants to know what mpg you guys get from your V8's.

I'm not LPG-ing !!!

Please state your engine size.

Driving style and conditions makes a huge difference here. The 4.0V8 in my last DII returned around 14mpg in town and up to the giddy heights of about 21 on a nice steady run. I can't imagine the 3.9 in earlier models being significantly different.

It's almost a case of 'if you have to ask...' :shock:

Crikey, I tore down to Essex yeasterday, on LPG which of course lowers the MPG, and I did the sums earlier.

12.8MPG \:D/

Very pleased with that, especially as it runs on what is effectively refinery waste.  I guess that's equivelent to about 14-16 on petrol?

mines a 3.9 with a few mods running on only petrol and yesturday while having fun off road on a fun day i maniged to get....................................
