Discovery V8 mpg's - search did n't help

I've not had mine long ( 1994 3.9EFI ) - but I've ranged between 11.8 in town running to 20.5 on a 200 miles motorway cruise.

I've not done anything to it yet - i.e. electric fans, servicing, tuning etc, so I'm hoping I might inprove the average by 1 or 2 mpg...


Remind me again why I bought a V8 ?

One press of the right hand pedal will do that.  :D
Mine returns 14-15 on every day stuff 19-20 on a motorway run using the cruse control. Mind you I don't treat it gently, if I was going to drive slowly I would have brought a diesel (steps back and wait for the slap).  :P

Disco 3.9 auto ~ does around 20mpg on a good day, but I always run it on gas so roughly double that for LPG, £ for £ (why don't you want to LPG it........?)

Defender V8 3.5 gives 15 on a good day, but 'normal' driving gives single figures.

My Defender 200tdi gives better MPG than the V8, but less/equal to the LPG, so I'd always have a V8 LPG over deisel anyday.  (So why did I buy a 200tdi? :-s )

Can't beat the V8 sound!

Mines  3.5 inj and on a steady long run 21 mpg  and probally less than half that if driven like a hooooooligan :lol:
   Fantastic to drive and bundles of fun offf road
