Radio Interference
DaveMac:
Hi All,
New to forum, my first post.
Disco TD5 2001.
I love my Diisco but am having big probs with interference when using my amateur radio istallation.
I suspect noise is being radiated from the injector circuitry.
Any of you good folk out there found (and hopefully solved) this problem?
The noise is definately coming through the antenna, mounted on the spare wheel carrier, and is not coming through power leads etc.
Would appreciate any advice on a possible cure. (No, I do not want to fit a V8 lump!!!)
Cheers
Dave

I thought being a HAM, you should tell us about emc/rf etc
Wait 'til the water ingress ruins your Yaesu !!!
Sorry, don't know how to solve your problem, always run Icom/Yaesu in my Defender but never had any problems :?

Where is your radion in relation to the ECU. The car will have had to pass emissions tests for type approval so I would suspect something isnt right. I'm not seeing any interference from the Bosh system on the Audi or Suzukis system (Nippon Denso I think)
Thats 140Mhz - 180Mhz
27MHz CB Standard
27MHZ CB Mids
TV Bands
470MHz Airwave/TETRA
Check earths etc, might even want to try a scanner with a tiny little sub ant to pin it down to a compnent.
Niel may be able to help.
DaveMac:
Hi,
Thanks for replies.
Interference seems to be coming from ECU unit and/or injector valve pulse circuitry, airborne radiation and coming in via antenna.
Tomorrow, weather permitting, I'll try earth bonding straps on ECU, bonnet lid and rear door.
Warch this space!!!
No one out there had this problen on TD5 Disco!!! (Problem worst on 80 & 40 mtr bands) Must be other "hams" out there running Disco diesels!!
Cheers
