How to improve economy ?

(1/3) > >>

Kenny:
Well I'm afraid to say unless I can improve this the old faithful will have to go. Discovery now gone so will be a no land rover family :(

I have a 2.5 NA 90 / 1989 and the economy is lets say cr.., sorry I mean rubbish. Is there any way this can be improved. How about putting a transit engine in, would it help ?

TIA

Damian

datalas:
Depends on what you mean by "cra...."

the 2.5 N/A we used to have did around the high twenties to early thirties on a good day, a 200 or 300 tdi should return the same...

Dave:
As daz said the 90 n/a i have is good on fuel "for what it is". I am just putting a 200 tdi in as we speak but don't think it will be as good on fuel.

What are you getting out of it? could be somthing wrong

Kenny:
35 quid lasts about 150 miles so a very quick/rough calculation puts that at about 19 to the gallon.

V8MoneyPit:
If it's being used around town alot, or in hilly areas, you may find the mpg drops to this. If you use it more on open roads, it should be 25-30 mpg, I reckon. I'm getting about 28mpg from my 2.5TD 90.
