Horn 'push' stalk on steering column
« on: October 10, 2007, 10:44:26 »
I've traced an intermittent lack of noise to the stalk - if you pull it back to flash the lights the horn works fine, but without pulling it back usually dead silence!

Is this a serviceable item or just bite the bullet and replace - if available???  Any ideas appreciated - Age

Mine was a bit of both, a number of push on wires that can come loose. Got to be worth a go?

The cost of the stalk varies depending on what year the vehicle is but even then they aren't too expensive (between £15 & £28). If you don't manage to fix it or just don't fancy taking it apart a new replacement is quick & easy to fit.

OK - I'll take all the blame, but don't expect me to pay for all the new stalks.....  Mine's died completely now, so should have done the job when I first raised it.  Darn it.  A.

Classic case of 'Nigel's disease' mine failed yesterday too, first dipped headlights, frigged a temp. repair, then the indicators (sliding contact went AWOL), last night soldered the dipped lead back on properly, made new slider out of small brass padlock key, hopefully it'll do until the dealer gets one in...
