Front Tyres

(1/2) > >>

Andy the Landy:
here's one for you . Checking over Landy for M.O.T and noticed the front tyre wear is frightening, The toe in/out is O.k as are all the joints etc. Looked at the front spring hangers (which have been repaired in the past) and they dont appear to be square! could this have an effect on tyre wear as the tyres have only been on for a few hundred miles and already down to 2mm in the middle tread

MUSKIE:
sounds like the tyres have to much air pressure in them wearing in the middle.

Frankie-Boy:
Hi Andy,

If the tyres have worn just in the centre of the tread but all round the circumference of the tyre, this would indicate that the tyre has been run over-inflated, what are the pressures, and is it just the one tyre?

Andy the Landy:
running at 28psi on the fronts and its both tyres that have worn evenly in the middle :?

Andy the Landy:
Just another thought - the Landy leans on the drivers side, wonder if the bloke who had it before me put the new springs on the right way round, suppose this could make a differance :? One thing that is puzzling is that I reset the steering lock stops the other week, and now when its on full left lock the N/S tyre hits the spring but the lock stop bolts have not moved :?  On the plus side though I took the swivel gaiters off as they were full of crud expecting to find knackered swivels and they are like brand new :D  :D
