Supermarket Policy?
BigSi:
I was in one of the well know major supermarkets this morning doing some shopping. Whilst using the self-service checkouts, a young couple beside me attempted to swipe a small pack of disposable cutlery.
One of the staff members who was monitoring the screen, came up to the couple and asked if they were over 18? The young guy said no, as the staff member then informed him that he couldn’t purchase the knives due to their age restriction policy! The young guy then explained that they has decided to have a picnic as the weather was so nice, and were there buying the ingredients that they needed (bread, butter, cheese, etc).
As the staff member took the cutlery away, the couple just looked in amazement!

As in plastic knifes that break the moment you place then near butter
Personally I wouldn't let anybody buy something as pointless (ie. blunt) as cheap plastic cutlery, for picnic I find you only need one knife and they tend to have folding steel blades.

Guardian.:
its pathetic, i do agree there are guidelines, or rules that people have to adhere to, but, people also need to use there nodles.
i was thinking the otherday, your not allowed a flick knife over here, yet my audi key is just a blunt flick knife! just press a button on the plastic handle bit and the key flicks out, might sharpen the spare one up and have a legal audi flick knife / key thing officer.
there are tons of dumb rules that are useless overhere.
Boggert:
You are kidding, my kids have plastic knives and forks in their toy cutterly set!!!
