Carrying on with the saga of my mis-fire I am going to change the ECU this weekend.  My  RR Classic has electric front seats, does this create any problems changing ecu's over, does the drivers seat have to come out or can you manage without.  Anything else to mention in doing the job would be helpful--Cogs

If you lift the seat right up you may be able to get it out via the rear footwell.  Otherwise remove the plastic trim around the seat base and get into it through the doorway.
Is it 3.5 flapper or 3.9 hotwire system, I forget.
I've got a 3.5 ECU for sale if you want it.

It's a 3.9 with hotwire (c/14) so I am told.  Thanks for the seat info, also do you know anyone who sell ECU's recon. if poss. just in case the one I have my eye on falls through?--Cogs

I've not used them, but they do a decent range of stuff, and when I've spoken to them they seemed to know what they were talking about.

The 3.9 ECU is a 14CUX I think.

The fog is clearing, I think I remember now.
Anyway, I'm told the 3.9 is a more reliable ECU than the 3.5, I know I've seen these advertised copiously in the comics.  Make sure you get and equivelent one though because later ones had Lambda sensors whereas early ones will just ignore them (not wired up even) but also the engine sensors are different between early and late models.  If you have the Haynes manual most of the data is in there.

Horayyyyyyy- mis-fire fixed 100% at last, borrowed a ECU off Steve Grakham to try & that did the trick.  Now running exceptionally well as in trying to find the mis-fire EVERYTHING was double checked under the bonnet. :lol:  :lol:
