think also cars with lots of car polish on make less friction with the wind cause u get slight less drag.

I missed that Gem:

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Sorry, what I was saying about credibility: gone

Youd save more fuel vacuuming the carpets or removing your chequerplate. Yes technically you are correct but as Thrasher pointed out earlier you are talking .00001 mpg or thereabouts.

Yes, on something like a Nobel, Koinsegg, Veyron where you are at about 200MPH then yes, it may make a significant difference eg .001 mpg but on a Disco/Defender hell no, theres more pressing issues to worry about first, like the fact you'll never get to a speed for it to count. Hell I'm not sure Concorde or even Atlanta/Endeavour would.

I need to go lie down now, my sides hurt.
I must confess the the activities of the UK governments for the past couple of years have been watched with frank admiration and amazement by Lord Vetinari. Outright theft as a policy had never occured to him.

What on earth is this doubling petrol mpg about? :?

Is this just for comparing LPG, if so then please stop using micky mouse measurements and work it out as something meaningful like p/mile. It certainly doesn't double your mpg or you would get twice the distance to a single tank full.

Ok, I was calm but now i'm a race car in the red and its dangerous to have a race car in the red

It seems every posting i read lately had been started by an individual who have a stupidly long signature and also thinks he knows better than some of the individuals here. can some members who have been in this thread please tell this individual what credentials you have when it comes to owning/repairing a Land Rover becasue right now I'm getting to the stage where I'll be using this site less and less cause this individual is getting right on my wick.

PS. if you polish your car it'll do more MPG because of less drag :(biglaugh):  I'm thinking Tom Cruise - Days of Thunder

i don't know a lot about disco's compaired to most of the members here but I do know that if I want to increase my MPG I would have standard sized tyres to reduce the drag on the road, i'd use Redex in the fuel, I'd make sure my intercooler wasn't smegged up and the EGR valve (mines gone) was working correctly and that my rev's were not exxessive and on a run it was kept at 55/60 mph as per the manual instructions.

Polishing don't come into it

Please, please sort it out, I get the feeling you've come on here trying to stir up a load of trouble and get threads dicey, if so then shoot off as we don't want punks like that.

Cheers

Therm where i agree that personal insults are not the done thing it is becoming increasingly frustrating from everyone elses point of view.

maybe a 'proof of age' should be added to the forum. smacks a little to much of adolecent pranking. No make that pre-adolecent.

I see the point you're making, but to take it literally for a moment, the whole nature of this forum is that it's family-friendly, which means posters of any age are accommodated.

It's also a forum where everybody is welcome (providing they follow the very few rules).  It would be a sad day if somebody felt they were driven out by personal attacks from others who didn't agree with their opinions, style or personality.  If we go down that line then we'll probably end up with very few members left.  :?

As said before

personal abuse is not acceptable

A quick reminder of one particular rule:
Quote
Any post which is considered offensive or abusive may be removed or edited at the moderators' discretion. Where this happens, the moderator will normally contact you to explain the situation. If a member continually ignores the actions of a moderator, steps may be taken to prevent them from posting messages.

As abuse is continuing, I'm locking this thread too.  If it starts up elsewhere, see the rule above.

To reinforce Thermidor's decision (since it was not one he took without consultation).

The forum is "family friendly" and therefore we will get posts by people of differing levels of experience, wisdom and social graces.  This is of course natural and desirable, variety being the spice of life and all.

However, sometimes things descend into verbal abuse and this tends to add spiced that nobody likes too much.   Since we've had a couple of complaints about some of the language and phrasing being used and it was considered that this thread had more or less run it's course in terms of the original topic the decision was taken to lock it.

I just thought people would appreciate the reasons behind the decision, so er... there they are.  Basically what Thermidor said but longer winded and written by an idiot :)

As usual,  any questions/comments/observations/wounding remarks should be directed at one of the Admins for further discussion.
