i recently had a problem  with the key fob, something had broken inside so i could not immobilise my Discovery. Ive read in the users manual that it can be disarmed by turning they key one way then the other according to the pin number, but i dont have it. If i go to the main dealer will they charge me for the pin, and also i dont have the code for the radio either.

The pin is actualy called the EKA(emergency key access) if the dealer cant supply it .you will need to have it read from the alarm ecu with diagnostic kit. remotekey.co.uk can do this. might be worth a call if the dealer wont or cant help

Had to do this when I bought my Disco this year. As Thrasher has said you just need the V5 and the dealer can get the info.

Cheers Ricky and Mike,

Ive give my local dealer a call and they want £10 for the radio code and the EKA. Ive told them that i knew someone who asked a dealer for the same information and they did`nt get charged.

To be fair I had just bought another key fob from them, and asked them to reprogramme everything to the new fob so they may have taken that into account. My Disco only came with one key so I was keen to make sure the fob that was left out there somewhere couldn't be used to operate the alarm etc.

They are cheeky gits aren't they? I've been in and got the full service history etc for vehicles just by giving the VIN number, and by phone.

It's very easy for them to look up - takes about 30 seconds ... and at £10 per 30 seconds that is a HIGH hourly labour rate!!!
