Can of (tin) worms
« on: September 18, 2007, 23:57:11 »
Dont you hate that feeling when you start a job that seems relatively small and easy then it just carries on getting bigger and bigger.

Started taking bits off in order to do get the inner wings on my disco welded up by a mate, and the 50 p sized bits at the ends of the sills and thought, well might as well tidy the boot lip up while I was in there thinking there was just a couple of bits.

How wrong could I be.

Boot lip/rear crossmember wants probably about a 1/5 of it plating. Gutted.
Inner wings want more or less replacing (bought it knowing this)
Sills both want a small plate at the back, n/s wants a short bit at the front as well.

BIG DOWNER though, removed grille, headlight shrouds etc, the bits the headlights are attached into at the bottom are completely ruined, was expecting to have to do a few patches but the bottoms virtually want rebuilding.

Looking at hacking a scrap 200tdi a mate has apart and hopefully using most of the front end to repair mine......fingers crossed.

Really frustrating when I just thought it would be odd bits here and there, could probably get away with that but while its in Kit form may as well do the job properly.

Oh well, put back the other bits I wanted to do another couple of weeks!
