--- Quote from: "elassoma" ---hello guys, i picked up a series 2 a couple of months ago, nearly time to get a failure sheet/work list from the nice MOT people but after that not sure whether to try to do it up as standard or to make a bit of a toy out of it (as funds and the missus allow)
would like some thoughts,
how good are they off road as standard?
or should i look at lift, truck cab, cage, big diesel buckets etc etc?
cheers

I'd go along with the get it motd as cheap as, regarding modifications?
If you don't need to carry stuff in it, then truck cab is a yes as it reduces the weight and gives better visability

If you really want to lift it, then extended springhangers are an option used on the trialing circuit, gives a bit more, but as has been said a series on well oiled springs driven well can be better than the coilers!! I won in my class last year with a standard series diesel against 90's, defenders and rangerovers!

A rear hoop and stays can be a handy get out of jail card when you push a bit to far, but it can be argued that the hoop gives you a false sense of security so you do push a bit far!!

Comfier seats and inertia reels can be a bonus for every day living, but personally buckets are a pain in the butt! I went volvo 340 in my 2a that I used as a daily drive.

the great thing about these machines is the versatility of what you can do.
