old wives tales that work ??
burgerman:
We recently had a large influx of oversize spiders inside the house, Anyhow was chatting to one of the passing locals, and he said pickup some conkers and put then in the area of the spiders and that"l stop um
Any how we are open minded( some would say gullable) so we did what he said, n bobs ya relation, all the spiders in that area have shipped out  Dunno why ?? but works for us
Any to add to this ???
TechnoTurkey:
I have heard this before, but never tried it.
Apparantly they don't like the smell and you should replace the conkers yearly to maintain their effectiveness...
Lord Shagg-Pyle:
I'm a firm believer in the Old Norfolk Way of weather forecasting.
You hang a bit of seaweed out of your window.
If the weed is wet, it means it's raining.
If the weed is dry, it means it's sunny.
If the weed is moving about, it means its windy.
Simplicity in itself!
Jimbo:
So if I put a few conkers on the dash of the 110, and hang a few off the roof gutter - will it rid me of all the cobwebs ?
Both the Disco and 110 are covered in cobwebs and spiders, yet SWMBO's Golf (parked in the same place) has none..........bizarre !

As it happens wifeys 90 is on the drive conducting this very experiment at the moment, she has a few spiders that visit her everyday on hte motorway section of her journey ( much to her fright) so we swapped the cars for the day and placed a few conkers inside to see what would happen :? and of course left the sunroof open so they can get out easily  or maybe more coming in   Will post the results later
