Hi, can anyone tell me the standard fit tyre size for a SJ410 tin top 1988, so that I can work out my speed as it sits on 30/9.5/15 at the moment.I know my speedo is reading wrong but would like to know by how much.

Cheers Gary

Remember the tyre size is for the carcase a 195x15 road tyre is about 26" Dia
My alligators are 28" as the tread is 1" extra on each side so increases the OD by 2"
Remember it will come in handy even if you never use it

Does this mean that a Greenway Macho tyre with a 2" tread depth is a 30" tyre 2" top and bottom ,the Greenway and Kingway tyres look pretty agresive and cheap mines not an everyday car just off road and greenlane.

A Tyre size is the size of the case
The tread is extra but dosnt matter on road tyres
195x15 Alligators are 28" dia
I am selling mine as they came on the SJ when I bought it but I want to drive on the road.
Alligators are fantastic off road but I wouldent even try them on.
Machos
I am fitting these to mine as they are road legal but good off road
I am waiting for the dimentions from Colway, but I think a 215/80/15 will measure near 30" dia

The Aligators are fantastic never got stuck at all
I removed them as they are not road legal, not been out with the machos yet as currently overhauling my brakes

I am running greenway machos on my samurai and they preform superb offroad but being very soft they seem to wear very quick on road (i will still replace with the same though as the pros out weigh the cons). Could anybody tell me the actual size of the wheels/tyres, all i know is they are 195/15, but what is the overall size ie 28" 29" etc

Ps I got the tyres from www.sowdentyres.co.uk   Tel (01274 652196 )
This is a bloke who deals in mail or collection, the service was top class, i ordered some tyres and they were ready to collect 2 days later cheaper than any company i found!!!  :D  :D

Re-mould MT tyres have quite soft rubber- mine wore down over 1" of tread in just over a year of on/offroad use. I thought the grip in the wet wasn't too bad though- maybe being softer rubber it is better than 'new' MT tyres in the wet. The wet road is certainly better than Yokohama AT tyres I have! I had Bronco (Technical Tyres) MT remoulds BTW.
