If the work is done as a favour, there is no cost.

And how do you measure the emotional attachment any of us have for the various "beasts" we have, each of us have a factor that would come into the calculation.

Besides, one more rebuilt is one less being built to replace it, with all the resources that takes.

Yes... I can do arithmetic... but that's not the point... I was describing a situation where judgement of ecenomic viability was subjective. I wasn't proposing it as a business model!  :roll:
